Under-40: Amore to get Oxford / AstraZeneca option in Britain

London: Britain’s Drug Standards Committee says people under the age of 40 in the country should take precautions against Oxford / AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine. The Joint Immunization Committee, in its earlier advice amid reports of blood clots from the vaccine, said that people under the age of 30 in the country should get an alternative to the Oxford / AstraZeneca covid-19 vaccine. The committee, however, said that the benefits of the vaccine have outweighed the risks. The vaccine is being produced in India as Covild. The committee, in its revised advice, said that people under the age of 40 in the UK should be given the option of Oxford / AstraZeneca vaccine as a ‘precaution’. Alternatives to this vaccine for young people can be developed by Pfizer / Bioentech and Modern Company. -PTI
