Beijing, May 21
China today said the Dalai Lama’s successor will be recognized with the approval of his government. Issuing a white paper on Tibet, China said that neither the Dalai Lama nor his followers would recognize any other nominated leader. China claims that after the 1677–1911 dynasty, it was the Chinese central government that recognized the Dalai Lama and other Buddhist leaders. The document also states that Tibet has been an integral part of China since ancient times.
