MUMBAI: Veteran Delhi Capitals opener Shikhar Dhawan was impressed with his ability to lead young Rishabh Pant and said this wicket hitter patiently in his first game as captain. And it will only get better over time.
Pant’s meteoric debut as captain
Rishabh Pant was given the responsibility of captain after regular captain Shreyas Iyer was sidelined from the tournament due to injury during the recent ODI international series against England. The 23-year-old wicket-keeper batsman made a memorable start as captain when, under his captain’s role, the team beat three-time Indian Premier League champions Chennai Super Kings by seven wickets on Saturday.
Dhawan’s Grand Declaration on the Pant Harbor
Dhawan said after the game, “Pant did very well, first of all, happy that we won the draw. It was good to beat later on that wicket. He was patient and continued to motivate the players. Dhawan said, “Pant has made some good changes as well. It was his first game as captain. So I’m sure he’ll be better from here. The pants have just started and with experience I’m sure they will do better.
Next Delhi game on April 15
Dhawan said, “ The best thing about Rishabh Pant is that he maintains patience. He’s very smart, which is great. Delhi will then play against the Rajasthan Royals on April 15 in Mumbai.
