Mumbai: Today, exactly 50 years ago, Sunil Gavaskar entered Indian cricket. At the end of 50 years of Gavaskar’s debut in Test Cricket Against the West Indies, Tendulkar (Sachin Tendulkar) wrote this on Twitter.
Sachin Tendulkar got emotional
Motivated by millions of cricketers, Sachin Tendulkar was the Indian “little master” Sunil Gavaskar and he always wanted to be like him.
He wrote: “50 years ago there was a storm in the cricket world that day. He scored 774 points in his first heat and we all had a hero ”.

He said: “India won this series in the West Indies and then won in England. Suddenly, cricket took on new meaning in India. I knew from my childhood what I wanted to look like. Even today, nothing has changed. He is still my hero today. Happy 50th anniversary of international cricket ‘Gavaskar’.
Under Ajit Wadekar’s captaincy, India defeated the West Indies 1–0 and then England.
Tendulkar (Sachin Tendulkar) said: “Happy Birthday to all of the 1971 team members. You have all shown us the way and made us proud”.
