Nepal’s Prime Minister Oli loses confidence: Amore

Kathmandu, 10 May

Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli lost the confidence vote by a wide margin in a vote in the House of Representatives today. This is the second major setback for Oli after the withdrawal of support by CPN (Maoist Center) led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal aka ‘Prachanda’. Prime Minister Oli received 93 votes in the lower house of the Nepali parliament. This special session of Parliament was called on the instruction of President Bidya Devi Bhandari. Oli needed at least 136 votes in the 275-member lower house to save the government, as four members of the lower house are currently suspended. A total of 124 members voted against Ollie. -PTI
