New Delhi: Former England spin pitcher Monty Panesar has named three Indian players who can play an important role in the test series against England ahead of the India England series (IND vs ENG). According to Panesar, R Ashwin, Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara are the three Indian players that England need to be careful with.
Virat Kohli not named in the list
Monty Panesar has not named Indian captain Virat Kohli in his list of his top three Indian players. Panesar said in an interview with The Times of India, “He said, ‘Talk about India, Ajinkya Rahane. His staff and his leadership impressed me greatly. The other Cheteshwar Pujara, he knows how to handle the pressure. R Ashwin arrives at number three, he takes counters both at the wicket and around the wicket.
Last time the British were on their knees in front of Kohli
Virat Kohli is currently one of the best batsmen in the world, but he is not Panesar’s choice against England. The last time the England team came on an Indian tour in 2016, Kohli became a pain in his head. Kohli has scored a total of 655 points in 4 games of this series with an astonishing average of 109. It will be important to see how Kohli performs in the series starting February 5th.
England also nominated for three main actors
Monty Panesar also named England’s top three players. Panesar named Captain Joe Root, Stuart Broad and James Anderson to this list. He said: “I think the main players in England will be Joe Root, Stuart Broad and Jimmy Anderson. Root knows how to beat in these conditions and is in great shape. Plus, Broad and Anderson can do wonders at the bowling alley.
