Pune: Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan left Australians Adam Gilchrist and Matthew Hayden behind in a century-long partnership in One Day International cricket as an opening pair. Rohit and Dhawan shared a partnership of 103 for the first wicket of the third ODI against England on Sunday.

Rohit and Dhawan also left behind Gilchrist and Hayden’s record of sharing 100 or more runs 16 times in ODIs. Rohit and Dhawan have made a century-long partnership in ODI international cricket 17 times. They reached second place in the list of most joint partnership salvation pairs.
Sachin and Ganguly pair on top
Before them, it is the Indian couple of Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly, who have shared more than 100 tries 21 times in ODI. Gilchrist and Hayden are third on the list, while Garden Greenies and Desmond Hanes from the West Indies are fourth with 15th century partnerships. Meanwhile, the record for the most secular partnership in ODI is also in the name of Sachin and Ganguly, who have shared at least 100 races 26 times. Sri Lanka’s Tillakaratne Dilshan and Kumar Sangakkara finished second on this list, who achieved the feat 20 times. In third place are Rohit and Virat Kohli, 18 times and in fourth place are Rohit and Dhawan, who have marked a century-long partnership 17 times.
