Kolkata: Young Indian player Shubman Gill of Team India believes “hit rate” is sort of “overrated” and thinks the strongest thing a batsman can do without a certain style of stick. In different circumstances we have to mold ourselves.
Shubman is awesome in AUS
The role of Shubman Gill was instrumental in Team India’s historic victory in the Australian Tour Test Series, but he has only played 3 ODIs so far and he has not made his debut in the international cricket T20.

“ Not worried about the slow strike rate ”
Shubman may not yet be included in the Indian ODI and T20 squad due to his slowness of hitting, but that is not a concern for him. Kolkata star drummer Knight Riders said in an interview with PTI-language ahead of IPL 2021: “I think the strike rate is overestimated in a way.”
“ Threshing is necessary depending on the situation ”
He said, “How you mold yourself in a situation is important. If the team expects you to play at a 200 hit rate, you should be able to do that. If the team asks you to play at a strike rate of 100, you should be able to do so. It’s just a matter of adapting to the circumstances of the match.
“ The correction for the batting style is not correct ”
Gill said, “There shouldn’t be a defined ‘model’ in your game that you can only play one way and can’t adapt to different conditions.” After a brilliant test start in Australia, he couldn’t do as well in the home series against England and could only make fifty in 7 innings.
Ready for IPL 2021
Gill hasn’t even played a white ball game since playing the last ODI against Australia at Dimbasar last year, but he doesn’t care too much about ‘playing time’. He said: “ I don’t think it will affect anything as we have a lot of days before the first game against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 11. ”
