Chennai: England (India v England) will start the series of tests against India from February 5. After the separation period ended, the English players began to train and after that, Ollie Pope was included in the squad.

Jack Crawley injured

Young England opener Jack Crawley suffered a wrist injury, due to which he was unable to train. Now mid-tier batsman Oli Pope has been included in the squad in his place.

Zak Crawley, on the other hand, injured his wrist due to a slip in the locker room. The report of his scan is awaited. The ECB said in a statement he could not attend the practice session due to an injury.

Olly Pope returns to the team

Pope (Ollie Pope) was injured in the last test against Pakistan in August last year. The operation was performed after he slipped his shoulder.

Ollie Pope, undergoing rehab, went with the team on tour to Sri Lanka despite not being on the team. This helped them adjust to rehab and subcontinent conditions with the England team support staff.

England board issued statement

The England and Wales Cricket Council said in a statement: “Surrey batsman Oli Pope has been included in the England test squad for the India tour”.

He said: ‘The Pope has fully recovered from the left shoulder injury suffered in August 2020. The England medical team are satisfied to be available for selection.
