Ahmedabad: England captain Joe Root said the pitch for the fourth and final test against India resembled that of the third test match in which his team faced a crushing defeat within 2 days.
However, Joe Root also said his team had learned a lesson from previous games and are fully prepared for the challenge starting February 4. India beat England by 10 wickets in the third test.

India must win or draw to qualify for the ICC World Test Championship final in June, while a win for England will help build some confidence.
Asked about Root’s pitch, he said: “ This (pitch) looks exactly like this pitch. I think the most important thing is that we learn a lesson from the last 2 tests and make sure we are ready for it.
He said here in the virtual press conference on the eve of the fourth test: “It is important that if we reach the same position in the first heats we can really benefit from it. And then dominate the match early in the match by scoring on the scoreboard.
Root said the English drummers would like to form partnerships. He said: “ I think as a batsman if you don’t score points you still have to look at yourself, you have to try to find ways to improve yourself and we definitely did. ”
He said, “If the pitch is the same this time around, then we’ll find ways to make big partnerships and score good scores.” Root said the team have yet to select the game’s XI, but clarified that Dominic Bess will definitely be selected.
He said: “ Now we’ll see one more day what that wicket looks like and tell the team that in the draw. He (Dom Base) will be definitively elected. He trains well. I am convinced that if he has a chance to play he will desperately try to take advantage of the pitch, if the pitch is like the last 2 games.
