Mumbai: Former Indian team star batsman and BJP MP Gautam Gambhir (Gautam Gambhir) has targeted the England team’s rotational attack. He reckons his team will win just one match against India in the four-match test series.
Spin bowling will be England’s weakest link
England have included spinners like Moin Ali, Dom Bess and Jack Leach in their squad. Experienced Moin took 181 wickets in 60 tests, while the same base and Leach played 12-12 tests. Bess took 31 and Leach took 44 wickets.
Gambhir (Gautam Gambhir) said in the “Star Sports” “Game Plan” program, “The kind of spinning attack England have, I don’t think their team will win a single test match”.
He said: “The Indian team will win this series 3-0 or 3-1. I think England will have a 50% chance of winning the match, given the circumstances of the test match being played day and night.
Budget 2021: Big shock for players in India, know how many crores have been cut in the sports budget
Which root will increase the problems
Gambhir (Gautam Gambhir) said England captain Joe Root, who has beaten brilliantly in Sri Lanka, will face different challenges in India. England won a stunning 2-0 victory in Sri Lanka.
Gambhir (Gautam Gambhir) said: “It will be a completely different challenge for a player like Joe Root”.
He said: “ Yes, he played really well in Sri Lanka, but when you go up against a bowler like Jasprit Bumrah at any wicket, or Ravichandran Ashwin, it will be very different. That too when his confidence soars after a great performance in Australia I’m sure there will be a completely different kind of challenge ”.
The first two tests of the series will be played in Chennai, from Friday the third and fourth matches will be played at the refurbished Sardar Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad. The third match will be with a pink ball (day and night).
Gambhir praised Virat
Gambhir (Gautam Gambhir) said he had never questioned Virat Kohli’s captain position in tests and ODIs, but there is a problem with his leadership in the T20 Internationals.
Gambhir, who took part in 58 tests and 147 ODIs for India, said: “I have said several times that Virat Kohli is the leader, I am convinced he will be happy like the whole team. He did very well in the cricket test.
He said: “I have always questioned his captaincy in T20. There has never been a question mark over its 50-over format (Kohli) or the captaincy of a test match. India has done very well under his leadership especially in red ball cricket and I am sure that under his captain India will continue to improve in the same way in the tryouts ”.
