Ged Stokes, father of Ben Stokes died of brain cancer

Christchurch: Ged Stokes, father of English star Ben Stokes, has died. Ged took his last breath on Tuesday after battling brain cancer for a year. He was 65 years old.

Ben Stokes is currently touring South Africa for a limited series with the England squad. He played 3 T20 internationals, but was rested in the ODI series. The series was canceled on Monday after several cases of COVID-19 (COVID-19) infection in the biological bubble.

Former rugby player and coach Ged Stokes had suffered from brain cancer for some time and Stokes had been in Christchurch for more than a month before caring for his ailing father. The England and Wales Cricket Council (ECB) said on its official Twitter account: ‘Our condolences go out to him and his family following the death of Ben Stokes’ father Gade.

During the series in South Africa in 2019, Stokes paid tribute to his father with a ‘folding middle finger’ gesture. He did it because his father had to have part of his finger amputated to continue playing.
