New Delhi: Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Delhi Capitals announced on Sunday that they have appointed former Indian wicket keeper Ajay Ratra as the team’s assistant coach ahead of the breathtaking league’s 14th season . The Delhi Capitals were finalists after losing to the Mumbai Indians in the previous round’s final. The next phase of IPL will begin on April 9.
Upon her appointment, Ratra said: “They are a great team to work for and have a lot of talent.” I want to join the team and contribute to its success. I thank the management of the Delhi capitals for giving me this great opportunity. He will work under the direction of legendary Australian cricketer Ricky Ponting.
Vinod Bisht, the CEO of Delhi, welcomed him to the capitals of Delhi. Ratra said: “His experience as a player and coach will be very important because we want to strengthen the franchise. We are very happy to include him and wish him good luck for the coming season.
Ratra (39) recently coached the Assam team in the Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament and the Vijay Hazare trophy. He has also coached the Punjab team in the past. During the camp, he also worked as the championships and wicket coach of the Indian women’s team. However, he is associated with a team for the first time in the IPL franchise.
