Beijing, 30 April

Chinese President Xi Jinping wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday offering to help deal with the growing cases of coronovirus in India. According to Xinhua, Jinping sent a message to Modi expressing regret over the epidemic. In his message, the President said that China was ready to strengthen anti-pandemic cooperation with India and provide aid and assistance to the country. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi promised on Thursday that his country would provide all possible assistance to India in the fight against Kovid-19. Messages from the Chinese President and Foreign Minister came at a time when tensions between the armies of the two countries were rising in eastern Ladakh and negotiations were on to recall the troops. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin told the media that China had sent 26,000 ventilators and oxygen generators to India. In addition, 15,000 medical monitors and about 3,800 tonnes of medical supplies and medicines have been sent to India.
