Bangladesh boat kills 26: Amore

At least 26 people have died in Bangladesh after a passenger boat overturned. The boat was carrying more than 30 passengers and Corona rules were being violated. It collided with a cargo ship laden with sand in the Padma River and overturned.

The accident took place near Madaripur at around 8 am. The boat was going from Munshiganj to Madaripur. 26 bodies have been recovered. Five others have been saved. Several other passengers are missing and they are being searched. Authorities said the boat was an inexperienced boy. The dead include a woman and 25 men. Bangladesh is under lockout till Wednesday. The boat was leaving early, and there was not much light. A committee has been formed to investigate the accident. Every year hundreds of people are killed in boat accidents in Bangladesh. -PTI
