Australia: Medical Association lifts travel ban: Amore

Melbourne, 4 May

The Australian Medical Association has called on Prime Minister Scott Morrison and Health Minister Greg Hunt to immediately lift restrictions, fines and jail warnings on citizens returning to Australia from India. The association said that there was a lot of tension in the medical community by this decision. The government has banned it due to coronavirus. Medical Association President Omar Khurshid said the organization was in favor of banning flights to strengthen the country’s hotel secrecy as the number of Corona cases from India increased. But the Australian government’s announcement at its own level is causing tensions in the medical community, especially among members of the Indian medical community. It cannot be described in words. He said that the government should do what it can. Chartered flights, defense forces can be called and Australian citizens can be brought back from India. The association termed the government’s decision as “difficult” and said strengthening the privacy structure should be a priority. -PTI
