Gaul: England beat Sri Lanka by seven wickets on Monday, the fifth and final day of the first Test match played here at Gaul International Stadium. England only had to score 74 points to win. England achieved this goal by losing three wickets. With that, the England team went 1-0 in the series.

England scored an easy victory

Following an easy target, England lost all three wickets on the fourth day itself. On the fifth day, the visiting team started with 38 races with the loss of three wickets and reached the goal without losing any more wickets.

Sri Lanka accumulated 135 points in their first heats. England then took the lead by 286 points with the help of 228 points from captain Joe Root and Lawrence’s 73 points scored 421 in the opening innings.

Sri Lanka did well in the second set, but due to the lead gained from the low score in the opening sets, they couldn’t get a big goal past England. Sri Lanka scored 359 points in their second set.
